Marine Boiler
"A pressurized vessel used on ships to produce steam for heating fuel, cargo, and accommodation, or for driving steam turbines."

Definition
A Marine Boiler is an enclosed pressure vessel operating on the principle of heat exchange. It heats water to generate steam, which is then used for various shipboard applications.
Types
- Auxiliary Boiler: Uses an oil-fired burner to generate steam in port or when the main engine is not running.
- Composite Boiler: A combination of an oil-fired boiler and an exhaust gas economizer.
- Exhaust Gas Economizer (EGE): Uses waste heat from the main engine's exhaust gases to generate steam while at sea (energy efficiency).
Applications
- Heating heavy fuel oil (to reduce viscosity for injection).
- Cargo heating (for tankers carrying viscous crude oil).
- Accommodation heating and hot water.
